Evaluation of trainings and courses in emergency physicians

Objective: The aims of this research is to evaluate residency training and in-service courses through the eyes of emergency physicians. Method: This research is cross-sectional. A questionnaire was conducted with 202 of 248 physicians working in emergency departments in Adana city center between 01 July - 31 December 2016. The questionnaire included sociodemographic information of physicians, assessments of residency training offered, and taking courses. Descriptive analyzes and chi-square test were used in the study. Results: In our study, the rate of emergency physicians under the age of 30 was 27.7% and the rate of physicians with a career less than 10 years was 47% and 20,8% of the physicians stated that they received emergency medicine residency training in their institution. 69% of 42 physicians who received residency training stated that the training was good. In our study, 15.3% of the physicians did not participate in any course, while 80.2% of them considered themselves sufficient in cases of cardiopulmonary arrest. Conclusion: In our researh, it was found that the participation of the in-service courses related to cardiopulmonary resuscitation is high among emergency physicians. Those who take the advances cardiac life support course feel more sufficient in cases of cardiopulmonary arrest. Residency training has been evaluated as highly good.
