National consciousness is an important factor that brings a society together, enables them to act collectively, and strengthens harmony and solidarity within that society. Social Studies course is an important tool in instilling, constructing, and transmitting this consciousness to individuals. Therefore, the main objective of this research is to determine the contribution of history topics in the fourth-grade Social Studies textbook to the formation of national consciousness, based on teachers' opinions and through document analysis. The study was conducted using a case study, a qualitative research design. The study group consisted of 40 classroom teachers working in primary schools in Diyarbakır city center and its districts during the 2023-2024 academic year. The document analysis part of the study examined the fourth-grade Social Studies textbook published by Tuna Publishing. The research concluded that elements of national consciousness were mostly limited to one learning area and one unit in the textbook, and that a large majority of the teachers in the study group did not find the topics related to national consciousness sufficient.
