Abstract

English (OpenAlex)

In this experimental investigation, synthesized Ag-Cu-Pt-Ce/cordierite monolithic catalyst were studied in order to determine low temperature catalytic activity. The catalyst was characterized by Field Emission-Scanning Electron Microscopy (FE-SEM) and x-ray Fluorescence (XRF). Selective Catalytic Reduction (SCR) performance tests with 2-propanol-toluene mixture as reductant were carried out with using exhaust gas sample of a diesel engine. NO x conversion rates were measured at various space velocities such as 20000, 30000 and 40000 h −1 and engine loads of 1 kW, 2 kW, 3 kW and 4 kW ranging from 170 to 260 °C exhaust gas temperature with the intervals of 10 °C. The characterization analysis of catalysts showed that coating process has been performed successfully due to the well-dispersed metallic particles to catalyst surface and pores. The results also demonstrated that the NO x conversion rates increased due to the increment in exhaust gas temperature which has significant effect on catalytic activity. In conclusion, the maximum NO x conversion rate was obtained as 68.4% at the engine load of 4 kW, 20000 h −1 and at 260 °C.
