Abstract
English (OpenAlex)
Inadequate nutrition is a common issue for individuals undergoing hemodialysis due to renal impairment, negatively affecting their quality of life. This study aims to evaluate the relationship between nutritional status and quality of life in hemodialysis patients to better understand this problem. The study was conducted from August to September 2022 at the Medikare Bagcilar Dialysis Center and included 120 patients, representing 80% of the initially planned 150 follow-up cases. The Nutritional Risk Score-2002 (NRS-2002), the Food Consumption Frequency Form, and the SF-36 Quality of Life Scale were utilized for data collection. The results revealed a significant correlation between nutritional risk groups and quality of life. Additionally, a notable relationship was identified between gender and the subdomains of quality of life. The findings suggest that further detailed studies are needed to explore the relationship between nutritional habits and quality of life in hemodialysis patients. It is also recommended that routine nutritional assessments and quality of life evaluations be integrated into monthly dialysis outcome reviews to enhance patient care.
