Great Expectations; written by Charles Dickens who is the foremost figure in the area of novels, novellas and short stories, experienced the unprecedented popularity throughout his lifetime, and by the 20 th century the writer was recognized to be a genius.19 th century English novel owes a lot to the writer's wonderful personality which has an outstanding influence on the time period he lived and the generations to come as he reflected the codes of morality, family structure, religious and economic life of the Victorian era.He dominated the theme of suffering in his writings as it represented the unfortunate life experiences of himself he went through.The basic features of all the characters he created in his literary works are radical reflections of the time period they represent.The aim of this study is to find out and analyse the excerpts pertaining to the themes of love, intrigues and symbolisations making references to the societal, economical features and moral values that Victorian period owes.In the course of conducting this research, analysing and reviewing of the literature; data from articles, books, dissertations and from the book "Great Expectations" as the main resource, were collected and evaluated.
