Abstract
We read with great interest the correspondence entitled ‘Is a hybrid skin cancer surveillance service for organ transplant recipients feasible? Lessons from the COVID-19 pandemic’. We would like to commend the authors for presenting an important adaptive strategy in a particularly vulnerable patient population, with the potential to preserve surveillance capacity for clinically relevant lesions, including lesions that may be suspicious for basal cell carcinoma. The COVID-19 pandemic posed an unprecedented global challenge, especially for immunosuppressed populations such as solid-organ transplant recipients. Transplant centres were required to rapidly reorganize clinical practices while continuing life-saving procedures under conditions of considerable uncertainty.
