Abstract
Hospitalised patients with urinary tract infections and impaired oral intake face increased frailty and delayed recovery. This retrospective study evaluated the effects of high-calorie, high-protein, and balanced enteral nutrition formulas on frailty, weight, muscle mass, and length of stay in 165 nononcologic inpatients. Patients receiving high-calorie formulas showed the greatest improvement in frailty scores and the shortest hospital stays. Weight and muscle mass increased across groups, although gains in muscle mass were not statistically significant. Patients with higher baseline frailty demonstrated more pronounced functional improvement. Energy-dense nutrition may therefore support short-term recovery in hospitalised nononcologic patients with inadequate oral intake.
