Objectives: The aim of this research was to identify the relationship between dating violence against women who study in university, and their anxiety/hopelessness levels.Materials and methods: This is a descriptive and cross-sectional research. Data were obtained between December 2013 and May 2014 from a total of 500 female university students who have romantic relationships, and agreed to participate in the study by a self-reporting method. For data collection, a questionnaire form which evaluates social-demographic characteristics of participants along with their exposure to violence was used. The study also utilized Beck Hopelessness and Beck Anxiety Scale. For data analysis; number, percentage, mean, standard deviation and Mann-Whitney U test were used. All local, ethical permissions were obtained prior to research.Results: The mean age of female students participated in the study was 21.05±1.81 while mean age of their partners was 22.99±2.91. 88% of female students had been subjected to emotional violence, 22.2% of them had been subjected to verbal abuse, 21.4% of them had been economically abused, 16.4% of them had been subjected to physical violence, and 7.2% of them had been subjected to sexual violence by their partners.
