Abstract
As one of the world's leading scientific societies in clinical microbiology and infectious diseases, ESCMID's role is to provide a global and open platform for scientists of different fields, comprising prevention, diagnosis and treatment of infectious diseases. Following this mission, ESCMID has been promoting and funding cross-border collaboration, research and education programmes in Europe and beyond since its foundation in 1983. ESCMID is committed to the practice of evidence-based medicine and supports initiatives that foster the network and progress to improve patient care.
