The Relationship Between Schools’ DNA Profiles and Teachers’ School Academic Optimism

The aim of this research is to investigate the relationship between DNA profiles of schools and the levels of teachers' academic optimism.The population of this research which is a correlational design is composed of the teachers working in Uşak and the sample of the study is consisted of 333 teachers.Convenience sampling was used in the research.The data were collected through 'Organizational DNA Scale' and 'School Academic Optimism Scale.'The data were analyzed by using arithmetic mean, one-way ANOVA, Pearson correlation coefficient and multiple regression analysis.The results of the study indicated that teachers thought that schools had the DNA profiles of resilient organization at high level, military organization at medium level and full-time organization.In addition, it was revealed that the level of teachers' academic optimism was at medium level.There was a medium-level, positive-oriented, significant relationship between teachers' perceptions of resilient and just in time organization profiles regarding the schools and the level of academic optimism.Moreover, it was found in the research that teachers' perceptions of military and just in time organization profiles concerning the schools predicted their academic optimism levels.Accordingly, it has been foreseen that academic optimism perceptions of teachers who considered their organizations as healthy DNA profiles may increase.Therefore, it has been recommended that DNA profiles of the schools must be identified and structured as healthy DNA profiles in order to enhance the perception of academic optimism representing teachers' beliefs towards student achievement.
