Özet
The significance of play-based therapy in improving social and linguistic skills is highlighted by this review, which examines the relationship between symbolic play and language development in pre-school-aged children with autism spectrum disorder (ASD). An outline of empirical research on the effects of symbolic play on language and cognitive development, the efficacy of play-skills-focused therapies, and the typical language acquisition delays seen in kids with ASD is provided. Children with ASD frequently struggle with both expressive and receptive language abilities. To assess recent studies published between 2000 and 2023, the review adheres to established parameters. Research indicates that programs that encourage symbolic play can help kids with ASD develop their verbal skills and social skills. The implications for further study and the creation of customised, play-based therapies to aid in language acquisition in this demographic are included in the review. The integration of symbolic play into early intervention programs to improve communicative outcomes for children with ASD should be the focus of future research.
