Qutbuddin Shirazi discusses some topics of music in one section of his workDurra al‐Taj, following the sytle of Safiyuddin Urmawi before him. In this paper,we try to analyze the scales named dawr and jam‐i kamil in the bookabove mentioned. What is interesting in his work can be put as follows: He isthe first person who used so called “h” distance which is the same with A2(artık ikili); he seemed to have synthesized new modes (maqams) thoughthey handed down to us with different names; moreover he attempted togenerate different maqams by adding symmetrical notes and four notesscales above to basic eight notes scales. From this perspective, Shirazi can beaccepted as a man of music who made new contributions to the music of hisage
