Özet
OpenAlex · İngilizce
Plasmonic sensors basically provide surface plasmon polariton (SPP) while interacting light with the metal–dielectric interface with different excitations geometries. They have gained enormous interest from various fields, including biosensing, optics, and solar cells. Particularly, these sensors offer detection approaches with rapid, simple, accurate, and cost-effective fashions, thereby aiming to tackle real-world challenges in medicine and biology. Nanotechnological advances in the last decade have leveraged the potential of plasmonic sensors by offering multifaceted fabrication techniques in order to reach ultrasensitive detection levels that help guiding clinical management for disease diagnostics. This chapter covers fundamental aspects of SPPs and presents several kinds of biosensing modalities relied on surface plasmon resonance, localized surface plasmon resonance, surface-enhanced Raman scattering, whispering gallery mode, and fiber cable sensor systems, along with their integrated strategies (e.g., mobile phone and smart material integrated plasmonic sensors). This chapter ultimately presents recent applications of plasmonic sensors to diagnose acute diseases, cancer, and infectious diseases, thereby providing a substantial overview to denote the potential of plasmonic sensors for addressing the challenges in disease diagnosis.
