Mapping the research landscape of climate change, risk, and migration: A bibliometric study

Climate change and its consequences have reached a level that can no longer be ignored anywhere in the world. Its effects are felt in numerous social, economic, and ecological spheres. Climate change, viewed from a collective perspective from the past to the present, brings with it many risks and migration. Throughout history, many nations, including the Turks, have left their homelands due to climate-related reasons and sought new places to live. Migration caused by climate change or other reasons leads to the emergence of many new problems in the destination region. The most important of these stems from people’s need for shelter. The housing needs arising in increasingly crowded and growing regions, along with the social spaces required by the expanding city and its social diversity, create many problems that architects must consider. The objective of this study is to fully understand the concepts of climate change and migration, examine these concepts in the Web of Science database (Clarivate), perform a bibliometric analysis of the articles written on this topic, map the studies carried out in this area and identify their shortcomings. This study consists of nine main sections. The first section is an introduction explaining the purpose of the study. The second section examines the theoretical meanings of climate and the third section examines the theoretical meanings of climate change in depth, while the fourth section covers international agreements on climate change. The fifth and sixth sections examine the concepts of risk and migration. The final internal section presents bibliometric analysis data related to these concepts and reaches a conclusion by analyzing the tables included.
