AÇIK ALAN REKREASYONUNDA KENT MERKEZLERİNE YENİLİKÇİ BİR YAKLAŞIM: MİLLET BAHÇELERİ

Parks and gardens are important areas where individuals can gain many physical, mental and social gains and the areas where in the urban centers individuals can enjoy their leisure time with recreation activities. The aim of this study is to examine both in terms of quality and quantity the “Nation Gardens” which is under construction planning in order to generalize it in 81 provinces of Turkey in order to meet the outdoor recreation needs of our country's citizens. The study is a qualitative research. In the study, situation analysis approach was adopted within the framework of qualitative research design, interview method was used as data collection method and datas were obtained with semi-structured interview form. Interview form topics are composed of a total of 13 questions such as planning process, expert support, services to be provided, inter-institutional cooperation, area, accessibility, diversity of services, prevalence. The datas obtained as a result of the interview with the authority of the General Directorate of Spatial Planning of the Ministry of Environment and Urbanization was analyzed by descriptive analysis method. As a result, the idea of ending the superiority of indoor space in recreational areas in urban centers, increasing the outdoor spaces and providing a green image to the urban stands out as the most crucial and important point of the project. In line with this idea, the diversity of recreational services, positive discrimination approach that will appeal to all segments and easy accessibility advantage to be provided to our citizens in the Nation Gardens will make a significant contribution to the more qualified evaluation of individuals' leisure time. In this way, our society will be provided more awareness in the field of recreation. For this reason, it is clear that the Nation Gardens project will provide significant gains to our society. With this study, it is aimed to eliminate the lack of access to information about the Nation Gardens project and it is thought that this study will be a source for future studies in this field.
