Pediatri Hemşirelerinin Profesyonel Değerlerinin Profesyonel Tutumlarına Etkisi

Objective: The aim of this study was to investigate the effect of professional values on professional attitudes of pediatric nurses. Methods: It was conducted with 218 nurses that working at pediatric clinics in Malatya province center. Research data were collected with "Personal Information Form", "Nursing Professional Value Scale" (NPVS), " Professional Attitude Inventory at Occupation (PAIO)" and, percentage distribution, Mann-Whitney U, Kruskal Wallis, ANOVA, Pearson correlation, Bonferroni analysis tests were applied in SPSS 18 program. Findings: 89% of the nurses participated in the study were female, 39% were 27 years old or younger, 71.6% had a graduate degree and, more than half of preferred (55.5%) because of job guarantee. 78.4% were not found to have membership of professional organizations. The mean NPVS and, PAIO scores were 132.2±29.9 and, 131.2±19.7, respectively. Both NPVS and, PAIO scores were significantly higher in nurses that high level of education, members of professional associations, not thinking about leaving their occupatio and, working day by day (p <0.05). There was a strong correlation between the NPVS score with PAIO and, subscales (honor dimension, responsibility dimension, mobility dimension, safety dimension, autonomy dimension) scores in the positive direction. Conclusion: It was determined that pediatric nurses’ professional values, professional attitudes are high, professional values affect professional attitudes and, this situation is affected by some variables related to the occupation. It may suggest that evaluate occuptional professionalism of the nurses at certain intervals and, activities for keeping it at a high level.
