Yayoi Kusama was born in Japan in 1929. He explained that he had hallucinations since his childhood,that he talked to flowers, and that the objects around him suddenly increased and made him narrow.Over time, he produced countless works to explain what he saw to people. With the help of themirror he used in his works, he tried to prove that a single image could be increased to an infinitenumber and that a small space could be made infinite. In addition, he has also produced works suchas ‘Infinity Rooms’, in which he transforms familiar spaces into unknown spaces with the help of theaudience, and wants people to see how they themselves destroy existing spaces. The artist combinedhis dreams with art to solve his mood swings and managed to overcome his illnesses.Yayoi Kusama has been involved in contemporary art since the 1960s. The artist, who was one ofthe pioneers of installation, was also one of the first in feminist art. She also used her own body inbody art and created extraordinary and avant-garde works for her time. The life of the artist, who isalso a source of inspiration for many artists, is a collection of adventures from Japan to New Yorkand back to Japan.In this study, Yayoi Kusama’s life story, which started with polka dots, was emphasized and someof her works in which polka dots were included were evaluated. In the “Introduction” section of theresearch, information about Yayoi Kusama was given, and in the section titled “Yayoi Kusama’sArt Life”, her artistic life was mentioned with the help of sample artwork images of the artist. In thesection titled “A Look at Yayoi Kusama’s Works Containing Polka Dots in the Context of the Work-Space Relationship”, her works titled “Obliteration Room Exterior View”, “All the Eternal LoveI Have for the Pumpkins”, “Polka Dot Madness” are discussed under the headings and evaluatedwithin the scope of the relationship between polka dot contents and art.
