Özet

OpenAlex Türkçe

In this paper, we study whether the economic issues are held better by the single party governments’ or by the coalition governments in Turkey. Growth, inflation, budget and current account balance data are used to consider the economic performance of the governments. Findings of this paper can be stated as follows: i) Growth rates are statistically significantly high during single party governments, while at statistically significant lows during coalition governments. ii) Inflation seems to increase during both the single party and the coalition governments. However, the increase in inflation is not statistically significant. iii) Budget deficits are showing a statistically significant increase in coalition governments. Budget deficits decline during the rule of single party governments, but this is not statistically significant. iv) A significant difference is not observed in current account balance.
