Kızılırmak Kavsi’nde erken Tunççağı boyalı seramik geleneği: Suluca Karahöyük örneği

This article focuses on the painted pottery groups and their distribution uncovered in the Early Bronze Age layers of the Suluca Karahöyük settlement in the Hacıbektaş District of Nevşehir.The mound is one of the major centers in Central Anatolia that exhibits uninterrupted stratification from the Early Bronze Age to the Byzantine Period.Although excavations were conducted over a long period, between 1967-1979 and in 1991, our knowledge of the results remains quite limited.One of the few known facts is the discovery of painted ceramics among the Early Bronze Age finds, identified in multi-layered phases spread over a wide area.Among these are the Çıraderesi Painted Ware, Konya-Aksaray Painted Wares, as well as Intermediate and Alışar III Ware-all examples of Early Bronze Age painted ceramics found at Suluca Karahöyük.Recent excavations and research have shown that these painted ceramics were widespread in the Upper Kızılırmak Region of Central Anatolia and represent a regional expression of the local culture.However, issues related to dating, decorative features, and the resulting classification debates and terminology complicate the task of defining the painted groups and delineating their distribution boundaries.This article proposes insights into the unique characteristics of Suluca Karahöyük's painted ceramics among contemporary cultures by discussing their development and chronology based on the site's stratigraphy.As a method, the painted ceramics unearthed in the Suluca Karahöyük excavations were classified, grouped according to their characteristics, and compared with contemporary contexts based on their decorations.All these findings demonstrate that Suluca Karahöyük
