Hacı Bektaş Veli’nin Ölüm Tarihi Hakkında

It’s generally accepted hijri 669 (1270/71) year by science communities as the death date of Haci Bektash Veli. When it is got to the bottom of why this date is accepted,it is unlikely to reach satisfying reasons, information and documents. Determination of death date of Haci Bektash, who is one of the most significant characters of his own period as historical and political figure in addition to Turkish culture and Sufism history, will be able to shed light on especially from whether he had role in foundation of Ottoman Empire or nor to many other issues. According to our current knowledge, we do not have any precise data on when Hacı Bektaş died. However, many manuscripts and some source books recorded at various dates date his death not in 1270/71 or around this year, but back to the first quarter of the 14th century, even the Orhan Gazi period. As a consequence of our searches, we determined totally 9 different dates as the death date of Haci Bektash. In this paper, on condition that we lay emphasis on hijri 669 year above-mentioned and hijri 738 year primarily mentioned in sources, other dates that we determined in sources will be shared with science world and an evaluation will be done.
