Unveiling the challenges: a bibliometric analysis of immigrant women’s sexual and reproductive health

When gender inequality is combined with the challenges of living in a foreign country, reproductive health problems among immigrant women can escalate. The aim of this study was to carry out a bibliometric and visualization analysis of publications on the sexual and reproductive health of migrant women. The search was carried out in the Web of Science database within the time frame of January 2013 to December 2023, with emphasis on publications that exclusively address the topic of sexual and reproductive health of immigrant women. A total of 1946 articles were analyzed using the VOSviewer software. The study investigated annual trends in publication and citation, as well as the most productive journals, institutions, and authors. Co-authorship, co-cited authors, collaboration between countries, network and overlay visualization of keywords, and the relationship of the publications to the Sustainable Development Goals were also evaluated. The research results indicate that the most publications were published in 2020 ( n = 254), BMC Pregnancy and Childbirth was the most productive journal ( n = 103), the USA was the most productive ( n = 595) and collaborative country, McGready R. was the most productive author ( n = 34), pregnancy was the most frequently used keyword (194 occurrences), and pregnancy care was the most studied topic (54%) on reproductive health of immigrant women. Studies on reproductive health of immigrant women showed an increasing trend. The results of this study will contribute to the evaluation of the current status of studies on reproductive health of immigrant women.
