Fauna of the coastal Aegean raphignathoid mites (Acari: Prostigmata: Raphignathoidea)

In this study, a total of 32 species belonging to the super family Raphignathoidea collected from various habitats of coastal Aegean region were identified. These species were diagnosed and their distribution in the world was emphasized. Between June 2007 and June 2008, 175 samples of soil and litter from terrestrial and semi-aquatic habitats were collected. Various features of the living areas of the places where the samples were taken were also recorded. It is aimed to contribute of the fauna of the rafignatoid mites in our country by evaluating the collected material for one year from this selected coastal area. Many of Raphignathoidea mites as predators, phytophagous, symbionts or as parasites on insects are known with increases the importance of the studies on this group. It is thought that it will contribute to the future use in the biological struggle against agricultural pests.
