Reiki Application and Nursing Care in Patients with Diabetic Neuropathic Pain

ABSTRACT The most common cause of neuropathic pain is diabetic neuropathy, a chronic condition characterized by nerve damage in individuals with diabetes. Severe diabetic neuropathic pain is reported in 10% of individuals with type 1 diabetes and 20% of individuals with type 2 diabetes. This section focuses on Reiki, a non-pharmacological interventional method used in patients with diabetic neuropathic pain. The steps involved in the management of diabetic neuropathic pain are detailed. It is recommended that high-level evidence-based Reiki practice be integrated into nurses' care protocols.
