Özet
comment on: "intensive bracing management combined with physiotherapeutic scoliosis-specific exercises for adolescent idiopathic scoliosis patients with a major curve ranging from 40-60° who refused surgery: a prospective cohort study"We read the recent study by Zhang et al. with great interest.they investigated the effect of intensive bracing combined scoliosis specific exercises on idiopathic scoliosis patients with a major curve ranging 40 to 60 degrees. 1 We think it is very important that the authors present the effects of conservative treatment in AIS patients with a Cobb angle exceeding 40 degrees.despite our strong belief that the authors have put a lot of effort into this work, we would like to address a few methodological issues that could have an impact on the findings. The authors reported the use of the modified Gensingen brace™ treatment and additional Xinmiao treatment system as a physiotherapeutic scoliosis-specific exercises (PSSE).First of all, the Gensingen brace™ was developed by Dr. Weiss in Germany in 2009.In the pattern specific Gensingen brace™ designs, correction techniques are applied based on the Augmented Lehnert-Schroth (ALS) classification as used in the schroth best practice (sbp) program as well.[2][3][4] in order to ensure standardization of the brace treatment, the brace models in dr.Weiss's library are used for the cad production of individual brace designs provided by well-trained brace designers on behalf of Koob Scolitech GmbH, Neu-Bamberg, Germany. As none of the authors has undergone any training in Gensingen brace application and problem solving, the trademark Gensingen brace™ must not be used for the braces as applied for patients within this study. The use of the trademark Gensingen brace™ is reserved for trained customers of Koob Scolitech GmbH, Neu-Bamberg, Germany, only.
