Surgical Cognitive Workload (CWL) may negatively affect the performance of surgeons working in the healthcare sector, the operations they perform during surgery, and the health and safety of patients. In order to determine the precautions to be taken, it is first necessary to measure the exposure levels of surgeons to CWL. Various techniques are used to measure CWL. Subjective methods are more preferred among them. It is essential to use subjective methods with area-specific criteria to ensure the effectiveness of assessing the CWL of surgeons and the reliability of the analysis results. The SURG-TLX method is the most appropriate one in this area. In this method, not all criteria considered may have the same importance. Therefore, the significant priorities of the criteria used to assess surgical CWL should be determined through analytical approaches in order to obtain accurate results. Fuzzy Multi-Criteria Decision-Making (MCDM) methods are frequently used in the literature to determine the relevance of weights of criteria and to address uncertainties in the assessment process. This study seeks to identify the implications of the six dimensions of SURG-TLX. The study ranks the dimensions affecting surgical CWL by gathering the opinions of four surgeons from different branches and using the Fuzzy Ordinal Priority Approach. The results show which dimensions have a greater effect on the level of surgical CWL and should be given more consideration when making improvements. This study adds to the related literature both in terms of its subject and the innovative approach it adopts.
