The utilization of composite materials in the coating process not only protects the material surface but also enhances its performance, thereby ensuring a prolonged lifespan and efficient use. This technology is vital for industries that demand advanced features and have specific requirements, especially for coating Acrylonitrile Butadiene Styrene (ABS) surfaces used in the automotive sector. Coating is important for both appearance and strength. In this study, the exterior surfaces of ABS components manufactured using a 3D printer at various printing speeds (50, 70, 90 mm/s) and with a 15% filler ratio were coated with a ceramic-reinforced epoxy matrix composite containing 20% alumina. Measurements of surface roughness and hardness were undertaken to characterize surface properties. The results of study indicated that the coated sample manufactured at a printing speed of 90 mm/s exhibited the lowest surface roughness of 4.059 µm and the highest hardness value of 72.16 Shore D. Furthermore, scanning electron microscopy analysis revealed that the composite material had a homogeneous distribution on the part surface. The present study aims to contribute to existing literature by investigating the effect of coating 3D-printed ABS parts produced at different printing speeds with ceramic reinforced epoxy materials on surface characterization.
