The aim of this study; the aim of this study is to investigate the relationship between fatigue and sleep quality of COPD patients. The sample of the research; Between July and December 2018, 209 patients with COPD who were treated in the Chest Diseases Clinic of a public hospital in Balıkesir and accepted to participate in the study were included in the study. Data were collected by using Individual Identification Form, COPD and Asthma Fatigue Scale (RCT) and Richard Campbell Sleep Questionnaire (RCUA). Ethics committee permission was obtained for conducting the study and necessary permissions were obtained from the institution and participants. A statistical program was used for analysis. The mean age of the patients included in the study was 65.96 ± 8.52 (48-90), 55% of whom were 65 years and older and 62.2% of them were male. The mean COPD year of the patients was 11.32 (1-45) and 60.3% of the patients were diagnosed between 1-10 years. While 90.4% of the subjects included additional disease other than COPD, the most common disease was Hypertension (63.6%) followed by Diabetes Mellitus (35.9%). The mean fatigue score of the patients included in the study was 68.11 ± 12.12, and the mean sleep quality score was 61.71±12.44. There was a negatively weak correlation between fatigue and sleep quality of COPD patients (r = -0.361; p <0.001). It was found that sleep quality decreased as the fatigue level of COPD patients increased. It is thought that assessment and management of fatigue in the care of individuals with COPD will improve sleep quality by controlling disease risks.
