Utilization of naturally dried waste eggs from laying hen farms as substitutes for protein, fat, and calcium in mouse diets

The poultry industry produces large amounts of broken egg waste. These wastes, if not properly disposed of, can be risky to the environment and humans through the spread of diseases and pollution of soil. Therefore, this study aimed to examine the effects of powder of crack eggs (EP) supplementation in mouse diet on body weight gain (BWG), organ weights, and blood parameters. Forty (40) Balb-C/Mus musculus mice aged 21 days were divided into four groups: control (C), and treatment groups (T3, T5, T7) with 3%, 5%, and 7% EP, respectively. Over 58 days, significant BWG differences were noted among groups (P<0.05). T3 and T5 groups showed higher BWG at 30th and 58th days, while T7 exhibited lower BW (P<0.05). Organ weights were mostly unaffected except for hearts and right kidney, highest in C (P>0.05). Group C had higher albumin levels, while T5 and T7 showed lower levels. Conversely, the highest total protein levels were in C and T3. Overall, EP inclusion in mouse diets was beneficial, though T7 showed diminished BWG.
