ABSTRACT The study focuses on the evaluation of the effect of the kinetic facade on energy, daylighting and glare performance of an office building by simulation method. A smart kinetic facade system was designed on the south and east surfaces of an existing office building in Konya by using the Rhino/Grasshopper tool and Honeybee and Ladybug plugins. As a result, it was concluded that the kinetic facade reduced the EUI value, which is the energy use intensity, and reduced the energy use spent on cooling by about 35%. With the addition of the kinetic facade, it was observed that the disturbing glare in the DGP value, which is the daylight glare probability, was completely prevented during the specified dates and hours. With the addition of the kinetic facade, positive results were observed in DA, cDA and sDA values in annual daylight measurements. When the average sDA values for all floors were calculated, the kinetic facade reduced the sDA value by 19%. In the UDI values, which is the useful daylight illuminance level, it was observed that the spaces with illumination values above 2500 lux, which may cause visual discomfort, decreased.
